sawlins debut ep on delsin off shoot ann aimee went down so well it only made sense to have him craft another. eviment is that ep, made up of three more deep and subterranean techno cuts that play with plenty of textures.

john heckle (undisputed king of da real scouse house and fast becoming one of the most prolific young techno producers from the uk) deviates ever so slighty from his trademark sound to paddle his little raft down the mersey and run wild with the wolves. the result is epic and mystic (and 100% organic) and opens a doorway into a mythical world of wicker men, hill figures, druids, witch covens and early 90s sunrises off the m25, when ever-e-thing seemed possible. excellent new artwork as well by godspill, who is also into naked chicks that float and stuff. a deadly combination!

deep house emporium ornate music cast their worldly gaze to the far east, calling on japanese producer sai, a graduate of agness sthlm audio imprint, for a killer four track ep entitled bedroom eyes. the sultry, suggestive nature of the title is translated into the tunes on offer, with opening cut >2am< offering the most subtle of acid lines alongside piano flourishes and a spoken word vocal snippet. better still is the afterhours bump of >blue lingerie<, while >mr< toughens things up on the flip with a analogue grit and cooing vox. the 12 inch is rounded off with another original cut in >another myself<, which is dripping in classic motor city house vibes with gently oscillating bass tones reaching deep down inside.

from the fuego department of cómemia comes >de la cabeza< (off your head). que fuego - in buenos aires, when a particular style is particularly flamboyant, they say >que fuego<, be it an evening gown, a staggering dancing step, a good phrase or a precious little make-up smear. all these things are part of the wonderful world of djs pareja, one portrait shot of them and we all want to repeat the word boy (or even better: boy).

so you didnt get that last firecracker that came in an incredible sleeve and was limited to 45 copies? well now you and the other 99% of humanity can at least own the music contained within it with this regular re-release, and to be honest although the sleeve isnt hand-weaved by a peruvian tribe centuries known for their mastery of textile craft, the one yer getting here is pretty goddamn sweet. bringing together calypso rhythms and bernie worrell-does-acid lines, fudge fingas >untytled< is an exemplary example of why everyone is in admiration of the geezer, and that is because he can actually make actual music, with compositions and melody and all that. excuse the lofty jargon. linkwood bring equal heat in the form of >secret value<, but guess what? fudge fingas has gone and blessed it with the refreshing audio equivalent of yer girlfriends mint & tea tree shower gel, adding liquid bass and lush keys. the fingas finishes off the e.p with one of his most interesting tracks to date >minus 616<, a dense, immersive piano piece that proves that getting this e.p out to a wider audience was just simply a righteous and necessary move. take that skinny tie off, wrap it round yer arm and mainline that uncut funk, baby.

having hibernated over the past few months, truesoul is back with a run of releases to close out 2012. the italian duo of frankyeffe and enrico sangiuliano kick things off, combining to deliver two smooth cuts that straddle the divide between house and tech house. >consciousness< works up an atmospheric mood with spacey effects and the spoken vocal sample woven into a rolling, percussive groove. >neaps< retains the percussive feel to create a bumping rhythm of drops and builds that provide the space for the distinctive vocals to do their damage.

plymouths 14th best dj aldo vanucci drops his latest in the form of this killer ep. >you re all show< features the sublime vocals of kylie auldist - best known as the lead singer of the bamboos but also a massive star in her own right. in this track she lyrically tears down some unfortunate individual who has been showing out a little too much. >take me to a party< features rappers asm batting off the unwanted attentions of the post gig sparkle ponies and with aldos backing creates a classic hip hop party vibe. >what happened?< re-works a classic vocal to devastating effect and >alone< re-creates the off kilter breakbeat vibe of aldos biggest track to date >when i see you smile<.

as the title suggests the new before the show album depicts beginnings and endings. we believe that life has many different beginnings and endings, and that the various journeys we take from one beginning to one end are filled with detours – and it is these detours which continually shape and define us as the people we are. musically years&years&years picks up where hearts and heads left off, however, it has developed towards a bigger and more complex sound image. it can best be described as a combination of sting and peter gabriel on one hand, and smashing pumpkins and radiohead on the other.
